- Thursday-Day One
At ten o'clock on Thursday the 5th of August, the trip began. Our plane landed in Burbank, leaving about a half an hour drive in our rental car, with Drew in the front trying to navigate, (he failed, so I was the navigator from then on). We were too early to check into our hotel so we decided to explore along Colorado Road. When it was time to check-in we went to the hotel and found out that we were unable to meet Steve and Don at Cal-Tech. Then we met "the others" Aneesh, Alex,Mr. Decoster, Joey, Mrs. Piper and Rebecca(sorry Rebecca I put it in alphabetic order!). Mrs. Thomas, Drew, and I then proceeded to my first professional baseball game, and actually my fist professional sporting event, which was very exciting. By the time I got back I was already exhaughsted, but instead of going to sleep right away Rebecca and I stayed up until two fending for our lives from a coakroach.
- Friday-Day Two
After a minimal amount of five hours to sleep we woke up to eat our energy for the day (which as I later found out was much needed). Then we went to the almighty Cal-Tech. We then met the stars of the show, Steve Howell and Don Hoard. We then advanced to introductions to each other and our weekend plans . Then we left to go to the JPL (Jet Purpolsion Labratory) tour, which was quite enventful. The tour was very informational, we found out that it was established in the early 1930's and the never really never work with any jet purpolsion at all, all of there work was mainly on rockets. In 1930 however, "rocket" was almost a taboo word the popular belief was that rockets were more of an idea of science fiction so they thought it would be to risky to call it "Rocket Purpolsion Labratory". At the begining of our tour our tour guide showed us future intruments, that would be launched into space to collect data for future NASA science missions. Then they showed us a space model of a rover, that is getting ready to go into space called, Curiosity. Later in the tour we got to look into the clean room and the workers, who were dressed in bunny suits. They were dressed in these suits because they are tring very carfully not to contaminate the rover at all with human bacteria, because they are afaid if they did find life on Mars that the bacteria we sent would affect the life there. This disapointed Mrs. Piper because she really wanted to touch something that went into space, but her disapointment was lessened when she found out we all could sign our names to be copied on a chip and sent into space.
